Rapid growth provides “exciting” challenge for YPP

A few months ago, Your Print Partner moved into its new warehouse after having started in 2011. Now, the company claims to be the biggest producer of feather flags and soft signage in the country, and shows no signs of slowing down.

A range of Mimaki printers have been installed over the last year at YPP

The firm can boast partnerships with sports events, including Brighton Marathon and the Outlaw Triathlons. It has also worked for the likes of Redbull and Neymar Jr, and has even given a helping hand to Cancer Research UK.

Not only has the company already achieved so much, but it is still growing rapidly, creating new jobs and investing in the future of the printing industry by offering apprenticeships.

Investment has also come in a more literal form, with the installation of new equipment, including a new Mimaki UJV55 320LED-UV printer, a Mimaki 320 DS wide-fabric printer, a Mimaki JFX200 flatbed printer, as well as another four Mimaki 320 DS printers.

As well as keeping pace with global technology, another key challenge in our industry has been recruiting workers with the necessary skills

Stuart Maclaren, who is the managing director, and also the founder of YPP, comments: “Our core business is expanding rapidly and we wanted to ensure we could meet this exciting challenge quickly.

“Manufacturing our products in-house gives us greater quality control, reduces lead times, and makes us more flexible and responsive to our customer’s needs.”

Not only does YPP offer the ordinary, but they also offer customised furniture, which includes tablet stands, deck chairs, and long tables.

Its impressive range has been seen at various events across the country, and its range of banners, soft signage, and flags are printed on site and finished by hand. This takes a lot of skill, and is something that Maclaren has concentrated on.

He continues: “As well as keeping pace with global technology, another key challenge in our industry has been recruiting workers with the necessary skills. We are now working with a number of industry bodies and our local college to offer some exciting apprenticeships and train the future stars of YPP.”

YPP now have the biggest collection of Mimaki printers in the UK

Eight new jobs were created in the first half of this year, and with the installation of the four new Mimaki printers means that ten more jobs are available at the firm. The apprenticeships have also been introduced at the same time.

More traditional jobs, such as the jobs in the sewing department, require skilled workers as they finish all flags and fabric displays by hand. The investment has not stopped at equipment, and Your Print Partner also invested £1.5m in its offices and manufacturing facilities.

Maclaren, who is Lincolnshire’s Young Business Person of the Year, has come a long way since beginning his adventure into the print and sign industries.
