Astley’s takeover of award-winning Sign of the Times is set to help both firms boost their service offerings

Astley, which boasts a portfolio of major clients including Sainsbury’s and BP, will now be able to increase its offering as well as diversify into different markets with an increase on digitally-printed services.

Kettering-based Sign of the Times was awarded the coveted Sign of the Year at the British Sign and Graphics Association’s 2015 Awards for ‘Timeless’, a fully-functioning clock at Senator House in London, as well as scooping the Craftsman of the Year this year.

David Redhead, managing director of Astley, says: “We are pleased to announce the successful acquisition of Kettering-based signage company Sign of the Times. The addition of Sign of the Times strengthens Astley in terms of capability and will allow us entry into new markets.

This is an exciting time for Astley as we will be provided with further opportunities for bespoke projects along with a greater presence in the south of England

“This is an exciting time for Astley as we will be provided with further opportunities for bespoke projects along with a greater presence in the south of England. Equally, this is a great opportunity to help Sign of the Times achieve its ambitious plans to grow by sharing with them our company expertise and industry knowledge.”

Following completion, the two businesses will continue operations under their own separate brands, but will share knowledge and in-house capabilities in order to better serve their respective customers.

Managing director of Sign of the Times, Darren Roughton adds: “We look forward to building a successful relationship with Astley following its acquisition of Sign of the Times. Not only is it fantastic news that we are now owned by such an established company, but the partnership will positively benefit our staff and customers.”
