Viewers around the world will now see the Epson logo on Formula One cars, helmets and suits

Indeed its logos were on repeated show at the recent Bahrain Grandprix on the cars, corporate shirts, race suits, and even the helmets of F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and team mate Nico Rosberg.

Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Toto Wolff commented when the deal was struck: "We are delighted to welcome Epson to the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team as our preparations for the 2015 season gather pace. It is always a pleasure to work with forward-thinking companies and Epson's products are a natural fit for our race and manufacturing operations.

“Epson's use of innovative technology to deliver performance is perfectly aligned to what we strive to achieve in Formula One and we will be working closely with Epson to showcase these innovations and increase global awareness of their brand and products. We look forward to the season ahead and many successful years as partners."

As well as promoting its brand through the Formula One champions, Epson and Mercedes are also in talks to determine whether Epson technology could benefit the team’s ability. Schahin Elahinijia, head of UK Marketing for Epson, comments: “Rather than simply providing products, we work collaboratively with the team to identify how current and future Epson solutions can best be applied to maximize team performance. More information will be provided in the future as the relationship develops.”

Elahinijia adds that Epson will be the preferred global supplier and designated Merceded AMG Petronas team partner for inkjet printers, scanners, 3LCD projectors and wearables, including smart glasses and health/sport sensing products.

Both Epson and Mercedes AMG Petronas have outlined firm commitments to reducing their carbon footprints, with Epson’s goals including a 90 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by the year 2050, and Mercedes’ F1 W05 F1 Hybrid reportedly more than 30 percent more fuel efficient than the previous model.

Epson president Minoru Usui says of the partnership:  "We are extremely proud to enhance our global brand profile by becoming an official partner of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team.

“The partnership aligns two world-renowned champion brands committed to the relentless pursuit of innovation, the attainment of global leadership positions and the creation of products and services that continue to exceed expectations and emotionally engage stakeholders worldwide."

The deal will also go some way to aid Epson in its stated mission to become, ‘the number one player in every printing technology field it enters’.
