Sign and Digital UK Tech Guide Part 2

In the second and final part of our tech guide, Jo Golding brings you some of the debut products, UK firsts, and niche kit that will be showcased at Sign and Digital UK 2015. Keep hold of this April edition of SignLink for everything you need to know about the show.

Sagetech provides various accessories to cater to your requirements

Sagetech saws into SDUK with upgraded kit


Sagetech, the vertical panel saw manufacturer, will present its portable ZK unit, ZM range with enhanced dust control, and KF range for heavier cutting loads at the exhibition. There are a range of sizes available for all of the machines.

Height requirements are minimised with the ability for each machine to cut both vertically and horizontally. Sage-tech’s panel saw range can be used for mobile or occasional cutting as well as larger industrial work.

Sagetech saws are also available in different sizes, and can cut wood, acrylic and aluminium composite.

ArtSystems focuses on finishing technology


ArtSystems is giving away one ClustaRack at this year’s Sign and Digital UK



ArtSystems will be showcasing a full range of finishing technology, including hardware, software and print media products and systems, all designed to make productions higher quality.

On display will be the F-Series flatbed, DC5X, S-Class T Series and XY Autotrim machines. On stand D30, ArtSystems will also showcase Latex printers, the 6800 inkjet and the Scitex FB5 UV. With competitions, exclusive show discounts and on-stand show offers to assist sales negotiations, ArtSystems are encouraging visitors to keep an eye on their social media pages.

Colourgen debuts new KalaXY cutting system


The KalaXY can cut substrates up to 1mm thick



Colourgen will present the Kala Automatic X-Y Trimmer (KalaXY) for the first time in the UK, demonstrating Kala’s increasing focus on automated cutting.

The device is designed as an entry-level alternative to existing models, and has a manual element for adjusting the light cutting guide.

Laurent Bouchard, the owner of Kala, says: “The new KalaXY automatic trimmer allows us to market a very competitively priced machine, which makes it suitable for a broader range of applications and budgets. The machine’s maximum cutting width of 1,650mm has been deliberately designed to be compatible with the width of Kala’s existing lamina-tor range.”

Nazdar debuts three new ink formulations



The 720 UV inks are designed to enhance colour


Nazdar Ink Technologies will debut three new inks with their main UK distributor, QPS. These include the 153 Series inks for Mimaki printers, as well as two UV inks named the 720 Series and the 260 Series.

Martin Burns, global market segment manager of digital solvent and aqueous of Nazdar Ink Technologies, says: “The addition of the 153 Series—in conjunction with the suitability of our 133 Series for the JV33, CJV and JV300—puts the Nazdar ink offering in the strongest of positions from which to serve the wide format market.”

Display Makers hope to create 'ripples' at SDUK



ISOframe Ripple is billed as a ‘game changer’


Display Makers will unveil its new display product, ISOframe Ripple, at the exhibition. It is an ultra-lightweight, patented semi-flexible system.

Colin Atkins, sales director of ISOframe, says: “At ISOframe we have developed stands that are reusable, adaptable, durable and easy to put together. ISOframe Ripple is the next stage in our journey to make exhibiting simpler and more cost effective.

SignStore to launch new e-commerce solution



SignStore offers its services to turn your website into an advanced online store



SignStore specialises in turnkey e-commerce website solutions for those in the sign industry, to provide customers with a completely online experience.

SignStore will help sign-makers build an online store where customers can choose a product, such as a sign or a banner, design it, pay for it, and be sent print ready artwork file. A catalogue of the most popular products will also be available for customers to browse.

At this year’s exhibition, SignStore is offering two months’ free service to visitors who sign up at their stand.

Films for every job with Grafityp’s new range



Lasercutting of Grafityp Ecological films is fume free



Grafityp will display its range of Graficast, Grafitack, GrafiPrint and Grafi-Wrap sign-making films, which have a lifespan of up to ten years. The Grafitack GEF has been created as the environmentally-friendly choice, and its films for CAD cut include special effects and added colours. The GrafiPrint range contains print media and complementing laminates. The GrafiWrap Automotive and Decorative materials include special effects and textures, matt and gloss colours, carbon fibre, and leather.

Drytac showcases new graphic films portfolio



Drytac Scuff Guard is a 150µ (6 mil) textured PVC protective over-laminate film with a matte finish


Represented by its exclusive UK and Ireland distributor, Antalis, Drytac will present its two new films to visitors. The recently announced Scuff Guard film and the brand new Protac Anti-Graffiti, FloorTac and Spot On films will be on show.

Steve Broad, sales director of Drytac Europe, says: “We’ll be in attendance on the Antalis stand for the duration of the Sign and Digital UK show. This gives us a great opportunity to answer any questions about our products and highlight the benefits of our new offerings to the signage market.”

New Protek Unico TT debut



The Protek Unico TT from Complete CNC is a heavyweight contender at the show



Complete CNC Solutions will be debuting the new Protek Unico TT computerised routing and finishing production centre. The high quality output means that no additional finishing steps are required, and it knife cuts, creases and has an advanced print/cut registration system.

Also on display will be one of the Tekcel line of computerised routers, which comes in a range of sizes, and offers versatility to sign producers.

Tooling and samples will be available, demonstrated by a team of experts on the stand. After the exhibition, Complete CNC Solutions look forward to offering 3D printers, and visitors who offer application suggestions could win a 3D printer.

Illuminated letters to light up Applelec stand



Applelec says it will debut its product portfolio such as built-up letters in a revolutionary new way



Applelec is encouraging visitors to its stand with the promise of a spectacle of signage, display, and lighting products in a way ‘which has never been seen before at the show’.

Visitors can expect to see illuminated and non-illuminated built up and flat cut letters, the slim LED Light Sheet, and the I-Sign way-finding range.

Remember to bring your business cards as leaving one behind after visiting the Applelec stand will give you a chance to win a two night hotel break.

Big UK first for MTEX



MTEX will be showcasing two of its direct-to-textile print solutions



MTEX Technologies will be showing its new MTEX Vision with direct disperse inks and the MTEX PAD coating machine for the first time in the UK.

The MTEX Vision, which is 1.85m wide, is an alternative to transfer printing onto fabrics. The MTEX PAD is used to pre-treat and coat textiles with production speeds of between 30 and 140 linear metres per hour.

Stewart Bell, managing director of MTEX Technologies, and the team will be at the show to talk to visitors about the new technologies, and will be happy to set up visits to their showroom for their other equipment.

See Canon ColorWave in action for first time


Canon will showcase creative customer app-lications as well as the Océ ColorWave 700



After the launch of Canon’s Océ ColorWave 700 in February, visitors will be the first to see the wide-format printer at work at Sign and Digital UK.

“We believe it’s the perfect platform to introduce the UK market to the new Océ ColorWave 700 which was developed, in part, from feedback gathered at previous Sign and Digital UK events,” says Dominic Fahy, business group manager display graphics systems and imaging supplies of Canon.

Drawing people in with its high quality applications at fast production speeds, Canon hope the Océ Color-Wave 700 will help printers excel in the wide-format sector.

Blackman and White shows off best of British



You can arrange a personalised demonstration of the Versa Tech from Blackman and White at its stand



The Versa Tech cutter from Blackman and White will make its first UK exhibition appearance this year. The company specialises in large format cutters, and added the latest addition to its MasterCut range.

Managing director, Alex White, says: “We’ll be demonstrating the 3.2m wide model with laser at Sign and Digital, showcasing the ‘best of British’ design and manufacture on which we pride ourselves, and that our customers value so much.”

The device offers crease, kiss cut, router, drag knife, oscillating knife and driven rotary knife, as well as a laser.

Epson solutions to go on show across event



The Epson SureColor SC-S50600 roll-fed printer will also be displayed



The latest in Epson SureColor printers will be presented over four stands by different print specialists with free daily seminars and workshops, including the 44? Epson SureColor SC-F6000 dye sublimation printer and the Epson SureColor SC-F2000 direct-to-garment (DTG) table-top printer.

Phil McMullin, sales manager of ProGraphics at Epson, says: “Epson’s SureColor series offers the market a range of printers designed to produce superb, consistent, high-quality results, reliably and cost-effectively. Our authorised re-sellers offer visitors to the show the opportunity to see for themselves the innovative Epson solutions available, that will enable them to expand their service offering and increase their profits.”

NeonPlus breaks mould



The Sign Group creates bespoke signs for the signage, shopfitting and design industries



The Sign Group will be showcasing its new and revolutionary NeonPlus product for the first time at an exhibition at Sign and Digital UK, including eight standard models and a new exterior trough light.

They will be taking advantage of the stock shell units and showing visitors the many ways you can use the product to make a space more inviting. Visitors to the stand can expect to see hanging signs, wall mounted signs, freestanding signs, and interchangeable floor stacked signs.

InkTec launch new bulk ink filling technology



The bulk filling system will allow people to move away from disposable ink cartridges



InkTec’s newest bulk filling system will be showcased at this year’s exhibition. The ink alternative could save up to 65 percent on ink costs, and provides a practical alternative to traditional cart-ridges and OEM inks. The bulk ink delivery also reduces waste deposited into landfill.

Joey Kim, managing director of InkTec Europe, says: “The introduction of the bulk filling systems for outdoor signage printers ensures that InkTec continues to listen and respond to the needs of our customers, while providing a realistic and competitive solution.”
