The World Out of Home Organisation (WOO) has launched an immediate search for a new chief executive officer, to lead the day-to-day operations of the global industry body.

The newly created role will allow current WOO president, Tom Goddard, to step into a more ambassadorial role, freeing him to focus on member engagement and external advocacy.

Goddard made the announcement earlier this month, during his opening address to delegates at the Annual Congress at the Park Lane Hilton in London.

The hunt for the new role coincides with recent expansions and recalibrations at WOO, with the out-of-home (OOH) association aiming to drive better campaign results, improve audience measurement, and foster more AdTech connectivity for its members.

In his speech at the Annual Congress, Goddard outlined that the global OOH industry was in “robust health”, with estimated global revenues of $54bn (£40.8bn) for the 2025 financial year.

The search for a new chief executive officer is being coordinated by Jeremy Male, chair of the WOO nominations committee. Goddard has invited delegates to direct any questions, suggestions, or expressions of interest to Male directly by emailing jeremy@worldooh.org.

In his New Year message in January 2026, Goddard outlined his belief that OOH is becoming the favoured advertising medium for agencies, due to its impact and stability.

Goddard said: "In these choppy waters, OOH performed well globally according to WOO's analysis and it reinforced its position as the favourite medium of creatives worldwide.

“One of the key things we need to do in 2026 is persuade the big holding company-owned media agencies that there are better things to do with their money than always throw it at the big online platforms."

Speaking about his hopes for WOO in 2026, Goddard added: "2026 is set to be WOO's busiest and most productive year to date, reflecting an industry that is firmly on the front foot and set to move forward globally. None of this could happen without the amazing support of our members and we very much look forward to moving forward together."
