William Smith offers updated Smart Wrap+ range

William Smith, a material supplier and specialist in vehicle wrapping, has announced it is offering an updated version of one of Avery Dennison’s most popular films.

The MPI 1103 EA Smart Wrap+ is said to retain the 50-micron white cast construction that installers are already familiar with but now with easier to work with properties for easier installations.

The result is s a re-engineered adhesive that grips less on first contact and releases more readily when a panel needs repositioning. William Smith says that this results in more time to align a graphic and less time spent correcting it.

The main change for this product is between the film and the liner as Avery Dennison has reworked the adhesive and paired it with a revised liner and its Easy Apply technology.

The film is branded as being designed for demanding installations rather than flat panels, with Avery Dennison highlighting that the high 3D conformability allows installers to work without primers or incisions on full vehicle wraps on fleet cars, vans and trucks, as well as surfaces with deep channels, corrugations, and rivets.

The new adhesive is meant to deliver also on warm surfaces in which the film delivers lower initial tack and better repositionability, meaning it can move back into position with light pressure rather than being lifted or reapplied.

“Every installer has had the moment when the film lands slightly out of position and refuses to move. This version provides a brief window to lift and realign it, and across a full vehicle those seconds add up to real time saved," says Lindsay Hutchinson, head of Marketing at William Smith Group 1832.
