Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems has released IPC 3.1, the latest version of its cutting table operating software, offering a raft of enhancements and automation features

Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems has launched the latest version of its table operating software, IPC 3.1, which has been significantly redesigned based on customer feedback.
The software, which is available immediately across Kongsberg's latest models, offers a cloud-enabled operating system which delivers a range of enhancements designed to increase productivity.
Additions of the operating system include a new ‘dynamic nicks’ feature, developed to simplify material handling by ensuring that cut parts and waste remain connected during unloading. The feature allows users to add or change the size and placements of nicks without the need for a third-party software, or without altering the original file path.
A redesigned user interface aims to provide a ‘touch-friendly’ experience with real-time feedback, reducing the learning curve for new operators and allowing customers to better leverage the features and precision of their existing cutting tables.
The user interface’s real-time feedback features also include push notifications, aimed at reducing downtime when intervention is needed.
A range of automated features are included to simplify set-up, including a simplified V-notch set-up, which allows users to achieve accurate folds with automatic calculations. Automatic edge detection and file orientation capabilities can rotate and mirror files without manual intervention.
Other improvements include improved job estimation capabilities, delivering more accurate production timelines and reduced downtime in comparison to previous releases.
John Wilson, product manager at Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, says: “The new features and upgrades included in the IPC 3.1 software have been designed in response to customer feedback and represent a major leap in capabilities from the widely available previous IPC operating system.
“The new upgrades not only reduce downtime and set-up time, but thanks to features like dynamic nicks, make an already powerful operating system more dynamic and intuitive, allowing our customers to make more of their investment in their Kongsberg table and to achieve more efficient operations.”
The latest version of IPC 3.1 software is available for all recent Kongsberg PCS platforms including Kongsberg Ultimate, C-series, X-series, and select earlier generation models.
