MUTOH releases new 64-inch roll-to-roll printer

Printing manufacturer MUTOH has announced the release of a new 64-inch roll-to-roll printer, the XpertJet 1682UR.

The UV LED machine, which was first previewed at drupa 2024, is a dual-head, dual-lamp, six-colour UV LED printer, compatible with CMYK, white, and varnish inks.

The 1682UR, designed for the signage and decorative graphics sectors, with applications including in-store decoration, wall decor graphics, retail displays, as well as floor and window prints, is said to deliver productivity of up to 27.3 m²/h and offers resolutions of up to 1440 x 1440 dpi.

The machine can be equipped with either a 30kg motorised take-up system with start/stop linked to the printing, or a larger capacity 40kg take-up designed for overnight full-roll printing.

One feature of the machine highlighted by MUTOH is its ability to print up to five layers in a single pass, with no need to pull back the media. This is designed to allow for special applications such as double-sided designs on transparent media, backlit/frontlit combination graphics, and the option of gloss or matte finishes. This feature is also said to eliminate risks of misalignment.

The US61 ink used by the XpertJet 1682UR has been designed to address health and safety concerns and is reportedly SVHC and CMR free, complying with current EU environmental regulations. The inks are also GREENGUARD Gold certified.

The XpertJet 1682UR will be available from mid-November through MUTOH’s network of certified distributors and partners.

MUTOH also recently announced its XpertJet C641SR Pro machine, the company’s first-ever integrated print and cut machine.

The 24-inch (630 mm)-wide desktop printer, equipped with a Mutoh AccuFine 1600 nozzle print head, offers contour-cut and through-cut functionality. As well as its desktop functionality, it can also be equipped with a stand and an automatic roll-up device for added versatility.

The machine was showcased on Graphtec GB’s stand at The Print Show 2024.
