Premier Paper has announced the launch of PaperTac, a fully recyclable coated paper for wide-format sign and display which has been made in collaboration with Drytac
Materials supplier, Premier Paper Group, has announced the launch of PaperTac, a fully recyclable, self-adhesive, premium coated paper made in collaboration with Drytac.
PaperTac, which is developed exclusively for the wide-format sign and display market and available exclusively through Premier in the UK and Ireland, is designed to give printers a practical, high-performing solution to help customers reduce signage waste and meet sustainability targets.
The paper, which was commissioned by Premier’s Sign & Display team, was developed in response to growing demand from customers and end-users for more recyclable print solutions.
The product features a 140gsm white matt coated paper with a clear permanent adhesive, and is compatible with aqueous, latex, and UV print technologies.
The substrate also has water-repellent and scratch-resistant properties, reportedly delivering up to five years’ indoor durability.
PaperTac can be mounted to a rigid fibre-based display board, and because it is 100% recyclable, Premier says the entire product can be recycled in a single waste stream without the need to separate the adhesive paper face layer from the substrate.
According to Premier, PaperTac achieved a 91/100 recyclability score in testing under the CEPI Recyclability Test Method v2 in October 2022.
The test showed that both the face paper and adhesive were able to be recycled together with no visual or adhesion issues, allowing the final signage, when mounted to a fibre-based board, to be recycled like standard fibre-based waste.
Brad West, Premier’s wide-format director for the UK and Ireland, says: “PaperTac represents a significant step forward for printers and end users wanting to make more sustainable choices, reducing waste and diverting it from landfill.
“By combining PaperTac with fibre-based boards, print service providers (PSPs) can offer a recyclable alternative to traditional indoor signage, all without needing a flatbed printer. It’s a practical solution that allows customers to utilise their current roll-fed printing equipment even further to support clients’ environmental goals with amazing print results.”
PaperTac is available exclusively through Premier, with next-day delivery across the UK and Ireland. Free samples are available for sign and display printers looking to build more sustainable signage options into their offering.
Premier also recently announced the addition of myTranslucent to its creative paper product portfolio. Produced by the myCordenons mill, myTranslucent is an uncoated paper that is manufactured using cellulose fibres that are FSC certified and OBA-free, offering a sustainable advantage versus plastic alternatives.
Characterised by a slight opacity obtained through a special process of refining cellulose fibres, myTranslucent is designed for luxury packaging and premium print applications.
Emma Oliver, Premier’s creative papers director, says: “We’re excited to add this range to our portfolio of creative papers. MyTranslucent is perfect for invitations, wrapping, and as an interleaf, where an elegant contrast between opacity and transparency is desired.”
