Signage company, Tri Signs, has purchased a Veloblade Nexus digital cutting table from Vivid Laminating Technologies, citing the solution’s competitive pricing and low running costs.

Tri Signs, which was founded in January 2022 by Lisa Cloete, Peter Westbrook, and Daniel Westbrook, after the trio were made redundant from their previous jobs at a sign company. Tri Signs purchased the VeloBlade Nexus as part of recent significant expansion to its premises and equipment.

Starting in a small workshop, the company has since expanded into larger, more modern premises and invested in additional equipment including two large-format printers.

Tri Signs primarily serves the housing market, producing and installing development signage such as stack signs, hoardings, marketing suites, and health and safety signage across the UK, from their base in Hampshire.

According to Vivid, outsourcing complex cutting jobs became a major bottleneck for Tri Signs as the company expanded. Increasing demands for folded trays, monoliths, and cut letters meant relying on third-party suppliers. The team reportedly recognised that investing in a cutter was essential to maintain competitive pricing and meet delivery expectations.

Representatives of Tri Signs attended two demonstrations before purchasing the Veloblade, one at a client’s premises and another at Vivid’s head office.

Since installing the Veloblade Nexus, Tri Signs has been utilised it for a variety of cutting tasks, including cutting and folding aluminium composite material (ACM) for tray signs as well as cutting acrylic for detailed signage and correx for health and safety signage.

Vivid’s customer service team have supported the company from the point of installation including providing remote assistance and sending engineers on-site.

As well as purchasing the Veloblade Nexus, Tri Signs also purchased Vivid’s Easymount Hybrid laminator and application table, citing the reduced floor space it takes up in comparison to other models.

The company previously owned an Easymount roll laminator with a load and dismount table but upgraded to the Hybrid after seeing it at the Vivid showroom. According to Vivid, the investment in the Easymount Hybrid reduced the company’s laminating footprint by nearly half.

Lisa Cloete, director of Tri Signs, says: “The Veloblade was worth every penny. It’s made us more efficient, improved our product quality, and gained us new business. We’re excited about what the future holds with this system.”
