Signs Express Newcastle has praised the impact of its newly installed HP Latex 630W, saying that the printer has extended its in-house production capabilities and allowed it to take on more high-margin work.

Located just over ten miles from Newcastle city centre, the company forms part of the Signs Express franchise of over 60 bespoke sign-making companies dotted around the UK.

Signs Express Newcastle’s offerings includes a range of specialisms such as window graphics, exhibition displays, banners, labels, and vehicle wraps.

The company was previously producing a lot of this work on a HP Latex 330, which had been in place for over eight years. However, Signs Express Newcastle recently made the decision to upgrade to a HP Latex 630W, taking delivery of the machine in July 2025 from approved HP partner, Papergraphics.

Signs Express Newcastle’s managing director, Adam Greaves, says: “The HP Latex 330 gave us outstanding quality and reliability, so when the time came to make a new investment, our first choice was always going to be a HP Latex machine.

“To elevate our growth potential further and increase our in-house abilities, we chose the HP Latex 630W. It brings with it a whole host of benefits both from a business and client perspective, and Papergraphics was great during the whole buying and installation process.”

The HP Latex 630W has a reported top speed of 14sq m/hr in standard six-pass mode

Measuring in at 1.63m wide, the HP Latex 630W has a calculated top speed of 14sq m/hr in standard six-pass mode, with users also able to utilise a special white ink channel.

Additional features include on-printer job storage of up to 10GB, automatic maintenance capabilities, and the ability to print on a wide range of materials and substrates including banners, vinyls, textiles, and wallcoverings.

Speaking about the abilities of the press, Greaves continues: “The advanced water-based HP Latex technology produces crisp, vivid results on a wide variety of materials, from vinyl and canvas to fabrics and beyond, enabling us to broaden our services and react swiftly to more diverse customer needs.

“While our main output is self-adhesive vinyl graphics for signage, windows, and vehicles, we’ve also been meeting demand by printing on other substrates such as banners and posters. The HP Latex 630W allows us to print opaque white ink, which opens up new creative and high-margin applications such as transparent, metallic, or coloured substrates, which we could not do in-house before.”

Speaking about the possibility of more kit investment in the future, Greaves adds: “We are only running the one machine at the moment – however, we may look to invest in the future as the business continues to grow, and HP Latex will be our first choice.”

Parent franchise company, Signs Express, used the inaugural edition of The Sign Show earlier this year to announce new business models which aim to attract independent signage companies across the UK to join the franchise.

Complementing its existing Resale and Start-Up models, the new Rebrand Proposition and Conversion Resale models aim to offer flexible solutions to help owners grow, transition, or sell their business, while maintaining local legacy.

The new models are part of Signs Express’ wider expansion strategy of creating meaningful opportunities for established business owners in what it labels as “an increasingly competitive market.”
