Dorotape has unveiled the addition of Glass Apeel PVC-free window film to its portfolio of material products, available in four different versions

Signage media and materials supplier, Dorotape, has unveiled the addition of Glass Apeel, a PVC-free window film, to its portfolio of products.
Glass Apeel is designed as an alternative to traditional static cling vinyl which can degrade in changeable conditions and, according to the company, deteriorate after about six months.
Traditional vinyls also contain PVC, an environmentally harmful plastic that can be more complex to recycle than other plastics as it contains additives that must be removed in a separate process.
Glass Apeel, which is made without volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is designed to offer an alternative to PVC window films. The product offers what Dorotape describes as “complete repositionability and lifetime removability”, reportedly able to be stored and reused multiple times.
The window graphic material features a non-sticky underside with a unique microporous layer that expands the film's surface area, creating what has been dubbed a “grip-like feel” without adhesive.
When applied to smooth surfaces such as glass or metal, the film aligns with the surface, keeping it in place. Removal requires peeling from one corner, at which point the alignment breaks, releasing the grip to the surface and leaving no residue behind.
Glass Apeel is available in four different versions. The Transparent option is optically clear, designed for use on glass and acrylic and with the option to be front or mirror printed. The Frosted option has a bright translucency for front or mirror printing, providing privacy while allowing light through.
Glass Apeel White blocks out a reported 99% of light for use on to windows and smooth metal surfaces. Finally, the Solar option is a transparent film designed to help maintain an even indoor temperature.
All the Glass Apeel products are printable using latex, UV, and eco-solvent inks, and can be applied to glass, acrylic, and other smooth, flat surfaces.
Glass Apeel is available from Dorotape at 1370mm wide in both 10m and 30m rolls.
Michael Ingram, managing director at Dorotape, says: “We have been looking to expand our range of environmentally friendly digital print window films for the last six months and Glass Apeel is the perfect choice for anyone wanting to print promotional advertising on to glass.”
