FESPA UK appoints Sarah Lees as Next Gen ambassador

US-based LED lighting solutions provider, GENLED Brands, has been purchased by Principal Industries, in order to diversify Principal’s product portfolio in new and existing markets
Principal Industries, a provider of electrical components and services to the commercial sign industry, has announced the acquisition of GENLED Brands, a US-based LED lighting solutions provider.
The acquisition aims to strengthen and diversify Principal’s product portfolio in new and existing end markets while expanding its overall market footprint.
GENLED Brands is primarily divided into two specialised subsidiaries that design and manufacture premium LED lighting systems – AgiLight for signage lighting and Acolyte for architectural lighting.
In January 2025, GENLED Brands officially formed a commercial partnership with UK-based lighting manufacturer and supplier, Applelec Group. Under this deal, Applelec operates as the exclusive dual distributor for GENLED's lines in the United Kingdom.
The acquisition of GENLED Brands by Principal Industries scales up financial and engineering resources for both AgiLight and Acolyte, while leaving their UK distribution through Applelec completely unchanged.

By utilising the technical expertise of GENLED Brands, Principal Industries also hopes to assist in the development of future solutions for its portfolio including for Principal Sloan, Principal Services, LED Wizard, SloanLED, and Ventex Technology.
