UFABRIK, a manufacturer of digital display textiles, has announced a partnership with environmental consultant, CarbonQuota, to provide a comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) for its product portfolio.

The LCA will aim to provide UFABRIK customers and brands with independent environmental information for all textiles within its range.

UFABRIK’s intention to integrate LCAs is part of a desire by the company to position itself as an industry leader in robust sustainability practices, while allowing customers to meet their own regulatory and sustainability targets.

Robin East, group chief commercial officer at UFABRIK, says: “We really want to cut through the ambiguity surrounding sustainability in the wide-format digital printing industry.

“We don’t want to follow senseless standards that have created a disingenuous trend of product positioning, now so commonly used in greenwashing; we’re looking to redefine honest and credible certification within our industry. Our relationship with CarbonQuota ensures that our sustainability strategy is rooted in science, with a measured and accurate carbon footprint, identifying opportunity for further improvement.”

Dominic Harris, co-founder at CarbonQuota, adds: “UFABRIK’s forward-thinking commitment to a full lifecycle strategy represents a major step forward. It is a serious, science-led approach that we are proud to support.”

UFABRIK’s collaboration with CarbonQuota comes amid growing demand from both the industry and consumers for verified and transparent data on the sustainability of products throughout their lifecycle.

In February, Moss UK launched a Carbon Calculator tool, made alongside Green Circle Solutions, which provides carbon emissions reports for each graphics and branding project commissioned by its clients.

This followed the first annual Graphics Sustainability Summit, hosted by FESPA UK Association in December 2024.

At the summit, over 100 representatives from across the graphics and signage industries gathered to discuss how the industry as a whole can improve its output to be less damaging to the planet.
