Trotec Laser has released TroWood Color, a pre-coloured MDF designed for laser engraving which aims to act as an alternative to plastic and acrylic materials

Trotec Laser has released TroWood Color, a pre-coloured MDF designed as an alternative to plastic and acrylics for product personalisation, signage, and décor applications.
TroWood Color is designed specifically to be used in laser engraving and cutting, and is engineered for both CO₂ and diode lasers.
The product combines a flat MDF core with an opaque, vivid lacquer coating on both sides. This new combination is designed to ensure precision cutting, clean engraving, and consistent colour intensity.
The material’s lacquer is also formulated to resist chipping, producing smooth, professional edges and crisp detail.
Currently available in six colours, TroWood Color aims to offer more flexibility than traditional lacquered MDF, which is often limited to white and can be prone to damage. The product has also been developed to provide bold, uniform colour in contrast to many colour-through plywood materials.
The smooth coating is also designed to prevent engraving residue from embedding into the surface, allowing any dust to be wiped away.
Speaking of the new product, Trotec Laser says: “As demand rises for warm, natural-looking materials that are ready to use straight from the supplier, TroWood Color offers the perfect blend of tactile wood appeal and the efficiency of a pre-finished surface.
“Trotec is proud to be the first to introduce opaque lacquered MDF in vibrant colours, meticulously tested and proven for outstanding performance on both CO₂ and diode laser systems. With uncompromising quality standards, a flawless surface, and a premium look and feel, TroWood Color sets a new benchmark for laserable materials.”
Earlier this year, Trotec Laser announced that it had entered a sales partnership with fellow laser company, eurolaser. Both companies remain autonomous and independent following the partnership, while leveraging synergies in market knowledge, consultancy, and global networks.
