Durst UK has announced the appointment of Amira Bouchiba as its UK and Ireland software and application specialist.

The hire has been made to provide additional software support for Durst UK customers, following significant growth and expansion of its software portfolio.

In September, Durst Group appointed a new global sales director for software, Chris Schowalter, as part of its push to expand its software offerings.

Its current offerings include Lift ERP, a print specific cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that automates print processes, aiming to provide a transparent, paperless, and interactive experience for printers and their customers.

Bouchiba has 20 years of experience in print and graphics, most recently working for wide-format supplier, CMYUK. She was promoted to the role of EFI technical product manager by CMYUK in November.

She had been part of the CMYUK team for nine years, previously working as an academy manager and a demonstration manager.

Bouchiba began her professional career as a graphic designer, which according to Durst “gives her a rare empathy for the day-to-day realities faced by businesses in the graphics and print industries.”

Peter Bray, managing director of Durst UK, comments: "Amira’s unique combination of industry knowledge and hands-on experience makes her the ideal addition to our team.

“Her dedication to customer success and ability to navigate the challenges of our fast-paced industry will undoubtedly enhance the level of support we provide."

The appointment is part of a wider strategic expansion plan by Durst UK, which will include further additions to the team in 2025.

Durst UK also hired Sarah Walsh as its UK finance manager this month. Walsh previously worked as a finance business partner for Harvey Water Softeners.

In October, Durst announced the launch of its new P5 X printer, which expanded its range to include mid-range wide-format printing solutions.

The machine is equipped with a vacuum table featuring 12 selectable zones. The four larger zones can be adjusted using individual sliders to adapt to the width of the print material. Additionally, the vacuum can be reversed to allow for material removal.

The P5 X is part of the wider P5 family of wide-format printers which includes the P5 350 HSR, a 3.5m roll-to-roll LED solution, and the P5 500, a 5m super wide-format multi-roll machine designed for unattended printing.
