The DOOH provider has introduced a new award category in Digital Creative Competition

Ocean Outdoor UK, a digital out-of-home (DOOH) company headquartered in London, has announced a new award category in its annual Digital Creative Competition which gives brands and agencies the chance to win space on Europe’s largest digital ceiling.
Brands and agencies can submit original concepts which utilise the scale and innovations of the large 900m2 full motion ceiling known as Printworks Skylights which is based in Manchester Printworks.
The digital installation forms part of a £21m refurbishment of Printworks Manchester and includes over 20 bars, restaurants, and leisure venues including one Europe’s largest IMAX screens inside the Printwork’s Vue cinema.
According to Manchester Printworks the relaunch of the site has delivered a 68% increase in footfall year on year meaning the digital ceiling is capturing a huge footfall of visitors.

In March Ocean Outdoor relaunched the Digital Creative Competition to include new opportunities for companies in the UK, Nordics, Netherlands, and Germany. A new prize was also announced in which winners from the seven participating countries will go forward to compete for the annual ‘Grand Prix’.
The competition calls out for bold ideas and imaginative concepts which push the boundaries of out-of-home (OOH) and DOOH technology across premium outdoor formats and environments.
The closing date for entries is August 23rd and winners will be announced at seven industry events on October 9th (October 10th in the Netherlands).
The two award categories are for brands and charities and are free to enter. Prizes are awarded to the top three ideas in each category with the winning concepts going on to receive airtime on Ocean’s network of DOOH screens and sharing prize pots of £500,000.

Printworks SkyLights is a LED canopy which spans the internal streets and courtyard of Printworks and includes innovative new technology including Ocean DeepScreen.
Printworks centre manager Dan Davis comments: “Creativity and innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Printworks as we strive to create immersive and entertaining experiences, so we are really excited to see the ideas that this competition will generate. It’s a unique prize to be shown on the largest digital ceiling in Europe and we can’t wait to see the entries.”
Ocean Outdoor UK marketing director Marie Le Hur said: “Printworks SkyLights is a unique environment which pushes the boundaries of digital out of home. It facilitates next level thinking and fully deserves its own award category. Our challenge to brands and agencies is to use this canvas – and the Printworks environment - for audacious ideas which will play out beyond the physical realm alone.”

Brands and agencies can enter at the Ocean Outdoor website where they are encouraged to keep entries simply by combining JPEG images or a short video along with a written narrative of 200 words.
