The LED display brand has provided high performance screens as part of a fiver year refurbishment

As part of its ongoing £200m ground development programme, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has recruited Absen as its LED display partner to help refurbish Lord’s Cricket Ground.
In order to enhance and modernise ‘Lord’s’, dubbed ‘The Home of Cricket’, MCC approached Absen to provide two new outdoor screens situated within the main playing field.
Following these installations Absen provided a larger third screen as part of the second development stage which, combined with the first two screens, has given spectators a “clear, uninterrupted view” according to MCC and Absen.
Jessica Golding, Absen’s European brand and marketing director, comments: “We were delighted to have been chosen for the ongoing partnership as part of the monumental redevelopment of Lord’s Cricket Ground.
“Our innovative products are perfectly suited for the environment and will, without doubt, add to the exceptional match day experience the venue. We’re looking towards the future and what other innovative solutions we can bring to this iconic cricket ground for the next development stages.”
To assist with the installation Absen selected Ashleigh Signs as the systems integration partner for the project.
The Absen 10mm pixel pitch SR10 S outdoor LED screen was the product of choice for the two original screens which help with super high brightness for clear visuals even on bright sunny days.
The larger 20m x 5.76m SR10 S screen for the Allen Stand now provides audiences with live scoring and match updates with an even higher brightness of 10,000nit (compared to the 8,500nits of the smaller screens).
Absen’s SR Series of screens provide enhanced durability with elements of the screen wrapped in a protective fibreglass to guarantee a waterproofing rate of IP65 as well as offering heat, cold, and spray resistance.
Jeff Wollen, MCC chief information officer, at Lord’s Cricket Ground adds: “We were delighted with the results which reaffirmed our reasons for selecting Absen as the LED provider. The technology meets our necessary criteria and is therefore perfectly suited to the Home of Cricket.
“The power and data redundancy built into the Absen SR10 S means there’s no downtime with the screens at the Ground and the ease of servicing allows our local engineers to support the screens at short notice and with minimum intervention times if there are any issues.”
