Trade portable display solutions provider Very Displays has invested in its first Agfa printer

Market Harborough-based Very Displays decided to invest in its first Agfa printer with the machine having been installed in February.
The trade portable display solutions provider has experienced a period of growth since its inception in 2017 and expanded into several nearby units.
Operations were consolidated into one 25,000sq ft site in 2020 with the company moving office functions to a facility three miles away to accommodate further growth.
Starting out as an importer and supplier of display and event hardware, Very quickly saw an opportunity was there to supply to trade customers as well. The company now has a UV printer and two 3.2m dye-sublimation printers to support this demand.
Richard Haslett, print manager at Very explains that the company was very diligent in its research for new dye-sublimation machines. “Agfa had lots to offer, but what stood out most was its overall openness and honesty when providing information throughout all stages of the selling process.
“It was refreshing and it convinced us to make the switch. We are very happy with our decision.”
For Very, the demand for dye-sublimation has always been a big part of its print arm with the scale of this continuing to increase. This is partly due to the growing trend for soft signage and has become a core area of Very’s own print expertise too.
Simon Boswell, managing director of Very, adds: “Buying a new dye-sublimation printer was the biggest single investment I had made since I joined the business four years ago, so our diligence during the buying process was robust.
“We looked at numerous machines, we had lots of print tests carried out to assess quality and we visited other Agfa printers to listen to their views on service and reliability. We wanted to take a step back and look not only at the machine but the service agreement, ink charges, running costs, the whole package. We also took advantage of the Agfa Finance package which suited us perfectly.”
Boswell explains that this whole process took most of the Autumn period of 2022 with competitor counter offers coming through which needed to be assessed.
“In the end, Agfa won because we were happy with the specification of the machine, the relationship with our sales contact Wesley Small and the honesty and openness from everyone we spoke to. It was ordered mid-December, installed in February with impressive follow up training and we have been up and running for over a month.”
