Trade manufacturer Brownings is celebrating its eco-friendly material with a new charity campaign

Brownings Trade Signs along with Smurfit Kappa have announced a new product in the journey to become more eco-friendly which will benefit both customers and donkeys.
As a trade only supplier for the sign and display sectors Brownings producers a range of products such as flex face signs, slimlock poster cases, bespoke snap frames, menu cases, and a range of textile and light solutions.
Recently the company has announced it will no longer be using Correx plastic backing in its snap frames or Slimlock display cases, instead switching to waterproof cardboard.
The company says the switch will make Brownings snap frames 100% recyclable and compostable so it can return to the earth at the end of its life.
This latest change is a part of a collaboration with Smufit Kappa which is supplying the board and helping Brownings commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact.

Mark Robinson, senior business development manager at Smurfit Kappa, comments: “To the untrained eye, it might look like any old frame, but it’s not. Replacing the original Correx backing with water-resistant cardboard will save 29.5 tons of plastic that would usually end up in a landfill. That’s the equivalent of 200 donkeys!
“In honour of this achievement, Brownings will be donating to the Donkey Sanctuary Charity for every sale of its new 100% recyclable snap frame. So, on behalf of Smurfit Kappa, Brownings Trade Signs and the donkeys, make sure to check them out.”
The Donkey Sanctuary has locations throughout the UK including Leeds, Buxton, Ivybridge, and Belfast. The sites have become popular locations for families to attend and for businesses to donate to.
Chris Winn, sales administrator at Brownings, adds: “As a company, we have an obligation to our customers to offer an environmentally friendly alternative. We have been able to start with our snap fames at no additional cost to our customers whilst also making donations to The Donkey Sanctuary, because after all, who doesn’t like donkeys?”
