The annual EDP awards feature input from 21 leading trade magazines from across Europe, each with an editorial focus on digital print. The publications come together to discuss the latest developments in the market over the past 12 months and select the best of these for awards.

Mimaki was the lucky recipient of two honours this year, the first of which was for its UCJV300-160, part of the new UCJV300 Series printers. The machine made its UK debut at The Print Show last year and attracted widespread interest at the event.

Danna Drion, marketing manager EMEA at Mimaki Europe, comments: “We are honoured to again be a recipient of these prestigious awards, receiving best-in-class awards for our UCJV300-160 roll-to-roll printer and our unique 3DUJ-553 full-colour 3D printer.

“We appreciate the time and effort the editors put in to reviewing more than 120 entries, and we are pleased to be included in the final award process with these two outstanding products.”

EDP recognised the UCJV300-160 as the best roll-to-roll printer up to 170 cm, offering in-line cutting capabilities and feature layered print technology such as four-layer and five-layer for transitional or double facing images.

EDP also praised how prints are instantly cured at even the highest production speeds, thus allowing customers to quickly print and move on to the finished product. In addition, LUS-170 inks that feature on the machine are Greenguard Gold certified, thus classifying them as both environmentally-friendly and energy efficient.

Meanwhile, EDP handed on one of its prestigious awards to the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 3D printer, recognising it as the best 3D additive full-colour printer. Judges praised the uniqueness of the machine’s colour capabilities, with the ability to produce more than 10 million colours in layers as fine as 19 microns.

EDP also praised the fact that water-soluble support material can be easily washed off when the object has been produced, thus saving users time and reducing the possibility of damaging the object when support material is removed.

Following its success at The Print Show in 2017, Mimaki will once again have a presence at the event this year through its exclusive UK and Irish distributor Hybrid Services. The company has taken one of the larger stands at the show and plans to showcase a range of technology from Mimaki.

The Print Show will this year switch back to the NEC in Birmingham and feature a host of major names. Alongside Hybrid Services and Mimaki, visitors can see, among others, HP, Epson, Vivid Laminating Technologies, Morgana Systems, EFI, Renz, CMYUK and printMAX.
