Signmaster Systems has issued a call for industry members to commit their staff to regular training courses to help boost their knowledge of print technology and allow them to get the most out of their machinery.

Signmaster Systems offers a number of training courses to help its customers

Although the Shropshire-based company is perhaps best known for its ability to provide a wide range of hardware, finishing, software, and consumable solutions, Signmaster Systems also offers a number of training courses to help its customers.

In response to demand, the firm is now planning to expand its current offering and introduce a series of new training courses, each focused on a certain part of the industry.

Sam Kehoe, director at Signmaster Systems, explains: “We already offer various laminating courses and we are going to be adding to this over the next year. Our 2018 training timetable, which should be available before the end of January, will cover various angles of what we do and sell.

“For example, we are planning to introduce training for Graphtec kit, as well as ‘refresher’ days for some of the machines that we sell, such as Roland DG, HP, and Mimaki. These can be for companies that have purchased kit from us and need to send staff over to learn about the machines, as well as for new staff and those that need extra training.”

It is all about knowing that your machines can do a lot more than you think

Kehoe goes on to say that instead of the traditional approach to training, which is mainly theory-based, the new Signmaster Systems sessions will be more “hands-on” and allow attendees to get a feel for the machines they will be working with.

“We want to move away from the classroom scenario to a hands-on experience,” Kehoe says, adding: “For example, with a Roland DG refresher course, attendees will be in the print room playing with the machine and looking at the software it runs, while we give them tips about the kit and help build their confidence in using the machine.”

Kehoe and the Signmaster Systems team believe this is the best way for industry professionals to find out exactly what their machine can do, thus allowing them to get the most out of their print kit.

“It is all about knowing that your machines can do a lot more than you think,” she says, adding: “For example, a company may have purchased a machine from us to produce roller banners, realise they can do a lot more with it, and then end up branching out into other areas like vinyl graphics and PVC banners.

“It’s about giving people more of an understanding that their machines are not just a one-trick pony and can in fact do a lot more than one type of application.”
