Wrights Plastics is now a global display partner to sportswear retailer, JD Sports, supporting them with display components across its international store network

West Bromwich-based manufacturer, Wrights Plastics, has been appointed as a global display and point-of-display (POS) partner to international sportswear retailer, JD Sports, supporting them with UK-made display components across its store network.
Established in 1969, family-owned Wrights Plastics reports an annual turnover of around £10m, delivering solutions ranging from industrial components to retail display. Clients of the West Midlands-based company include Marks and Spencer, Selfridges, and John Lewis.
The new partnership sees Wrights Plastics design and manufacture a wide range of in-store display elements for JD Sports, from illuminated signage and glow boxes to modular POS units and vinyl graphic packs.
All items will be produced at the company’s 42,000sq ft West Bromwich facility, supplying to JD Sports stores globally. One of the manufacturer’s largest recent projects included producing more than 70 bespoke display units for JD Sports’ flagship Manchester Trafford Centre store, described at launch as the largest JD store in the world.
Commercial director of Wrights Plastics, Andy Watkins, says: “Supporting JD Sports at this scale is a major milestone for our team and a great example of the capability and flexibility of UK manufacturing.”
JD Sports also recently launched the first campaign on The Manchester Screen, a new ‘supersized’ out-of-home (OOH) site which has been dubbed the largest of its kind in the UK.
The activation promoted the annual retail conference of the sports-fashion retailer held at Victoria Warehouse, the building that The Manchester Screen spans.
The campaign features a giant replica of JD Sports' signature yellow bag suspended from the roof, aiming to create a striking visual impact above the venue.
