Manchester-based sign-maker, Ainsely Signs, is aiming to expand into new markets following the installation of a new Generation 5 Nyala from swissQprint.

The flatbed printer, which is part of the generation officially launched in January, was purchased to help the signage firm target further growth in retail, design, and trade.

The Nyala 5 flatbed printer is up to 23% quicker on average than its predecessor, reaching speeds of up to 253sq m/h, coming with up to ten freely configurable colour channels. Ainsley Signs installed the Nyala 5 with a roll-to-roll option and a CMYK, white, and varnish ink set.

Managing director of Ainsley Signs, Dale Broadhead, who joined the company last year, says: “The Nyala enables us to go into sectors like retail, design, and trade, enhancing our print quality. It really showcases what we can do for a raft of new blue-chip customers.”

The investment has expanded the type of substrates the business can work with to include aluminium composite material, Foamex, and acrylics. The modular build of the Nyala also means that Ainsley Signs can add additional colours or applications down the line, should the need arise.

Broadhead previously worked for a range of signage companies including Leading Edge Signage & Graphics, and Moss UK (previously MacroArt).

Buying a Nyala had reportedly been high on Broadhead’s agenda for some time before arriving at Ainsley Signs. Upon joining the company, he discovered that this aspiration was shared by Josh Ainsely, the company’s co-owner and director.

Broadhead comments: “It was a printer he wanted and really liked its endless creative possibilities. Our team are very excited about the Nyala, which is great to see. It shows our pure passion for print and we love making signs.”

The purchase is part of a major investment programme which includes further investments in new finishing equipment, with plans to double the capacity of Ainsley Signs' Middleton site. By implementing this programme, Ainsley Signs aims to triple its turnover within the next five years.

Ian Maxfield, regional sales manager at swissQprint UK, adds: “Ainsley Signs is a business that's eager to grow into markets that demand higher quality and fast turnaround. We’re delighted that Ainsley has become the latest UK customer of this state-of-the-art next generation machine.”
