Spilsby-based commercial printer, J&A International, has reported increased production capacity and the launch of a new product line following the purchase of a VeloBlade Nexus wide-format digital die-cutter.

J&A purchased the Nexus from Vivid Laminating Technologies in order to enhance its range of printed products.

The Lincolnshire company has particular expertise in garment decoration using heat-seal transfers, with its offering including name badges, stickers, pens, signage, graphics, and packaging solutions.

Improving output speed and meeting growing customer demand were also key priorities, especially within J&A’s signage division and the production of its Ultima removable industrial launder transfer range.

After a visit to Vivid’s headquarters and a demonstration of a range of its equipment, the Nexus was chosen for its high speed, which J&A felt matched some of the top-tier equipment on the market but at a more competitive price.

Additional tools on the Nexus including its CNC router were also a key reason for the purchase, enabling the creation of custom-shaped signage products.

Since purchasing the Nexus, the company has launched a new product line of custom-cut signs, due in large part to the capabilities of Nexus’ router tool.

The company has also reported that the Nexus’ feeder and stacker system has allowed for jobs to be run unattended for extended periods, saving time and improving productivity.

James Fry, operations director at J&A says: "The VeloBlade is a great bit of kit – it is reliable, and it does exactly what we need it to do.

“Vivid has always been on hand to quickly fix any issues that we encounter, and they do so in a friendly and professional manner. It is very nice to deal with a company where you feel your business genuinely matters to them. I think that is something very rare to find nowadays."

The manufacturer is returning to The Print Show this year with the largest stand at the exhibition, an expansive 208sq m display offering demonstrations of its entire product portfolio. Vivid will be at Stand P460 of the trade show from September 23rd to 25th at the NEC Birmingham.
