Wide-format printer, QPS Print, has installed a Fujifilm Acuity Prime flatbed, with the aim of expanding its production capabilities and taking on a higher volume work.

Now in its 40th year, QPS Print, which is based in Stoke-on-Trent, began as a screen printing business before evolving into a full-service wide-format print provider.

With a team of 25 staff, QPS Print serves both trade and end-user customers across sectors including retail, leisure, hospitality, and education, producing work such as signage, point-of-sale (POS), murals, and wall graphics.

The Acuity Prime, a mid-range LED UV hybrid press, is the fourth Fujifilm Acuity machine purchased by QPS, with the relationship beginning at the start of Fujifilm’s digital print era.

Speaking of the Acuity Prime purchase, Jamie Copeland, managing director of QPS Print, says: “We looked at a number of machines, but the confidence we’ve built over the years in Fujifilm’s products, service, and support made it an easy decision to opt for the Acuity Prime.”

The machine was installed in early 2025 and has reportedly already delivered major gains in speed and productivity, despite having the same bed size as previous presses. This has led QPS to take on longer print runs which were previously unfeasible due to time constraints or cost.

Copeland says: “The Acuity Prime offers a significant uplift in productivity over our older machines; the speed and capacity were the biggest drivers for us.

“The additional throughput allows us to remain competitive and deliver on larger jobs that we could not do previously. The Acuity Prime has also helped us become more efficient in production – partly due to the efficiency of LED curing lamps compared to the previous less efficient ink curing system, reducing both energy costs and the need for ongoing lamp replacement.”

With the improved speed and capacity of the Acuity Prime, QPS has stated that it has been able to target new nationwide opportunities previously not possible. The company is also considering replacing other older printers with new Acuity Prime models.

Copeland adds: “For the speed and cost in use, the Acuity Prime is an exceptional machine.

“There’s every chance we’ll look to upgrade in the near future with additional Fujifilm machines.”

Andy Webb, head of inkjet and packaging UK at Fujifilm, says: “We’re delighted to see QPS Print building on their long-standing relationship with Fujifilm by investing in the Acuity Prime.

“It’s a versatile, efficient, and high-performing printer designed to meet the challenges of today’s wide-format market. We’re proud to support QPS Print as they expand their capabilities and take on exciting new opportunities.”
