Wide-format materials manufacturer and distributor, Soyang Europe, has celebrated its 20th year in business, reflecting on its history and its recent expansion

Soyang Europe, a manufacturer and distributor of wide-format media and surface coverings, is celebrating 20 years in business this year.
July 8th marked the 20th anniversary of the materials manufacturer, which is headquartered in a 70,000sq ft facility in Accrington, Lancashire.
In that time, the company has undertaken significant expansion, having first tested the waters with a small batch of Soyang-manufactured materials in the mid-2000s.
Soyang Europe’s group chief executive officer, Mark Mashiter, explains the company’s origins, saying: “We started out in the UK in 2005 with the first three containers of material landing to test the market.
“In fact, with these containers, the VAT and duty rates were paid for on my personal credit card to clear customs!”
Soyang Europe’s core product, which was provided by its Chinese parent company, was initially focused on PVC production up to 5m wide. However, as the market evolved, it adapted its offering to cater for changing demands.
Mashiter explains: “We have worked together, developing the Chinese materials and improving them to meet the requirements of the EU market.
“The majority of investments have been made into textiles suitable for dye sublimation, latex, and UV printing up to 5m wide. Add in that further materials are now being introduced to replace traditional PVC banners, again up to 5m wide, and this places us in a strong position to support customers with their evolving sustainable practices.”

The company diversified from its core materials offering in 2022 when it purchased wide-format equipment supplier, Josero, which it renamed as Soyang Hardware.
The acquisition allowed Soyang to support customers with their hardware needs alongside media supplies, with Soyang Hardware now providing machine solutions from Fujifilm, Mimaki, Ricoh, Jetrix, and Vivid Laminating Technologies.
Other expansions included the recent opening of a new branch in Dublin, Ireland, purchased to better serve customers in the country.
Mark Mashiter was announced as group chief executive officer in April 2025, as part of a revamp of its leadership structure that included a new board of directors being announced.
The board members were announced as sales director Oliver Mashiter, operations director Simon Mashiter, and company secretary Catherine Mashiter, as well as finance director Daniel Dimambro, procurement director Shane Furness, and Lauren Gawthorpe in accounts.
Commenting on the new board, Mark Mashiter says: “The new-look board of directors is also part of the long-term plan.
“This next generation will continue to drive us forward as a business by taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the company. They will implement new processes when required and will ensure the smooth running and continued growth of Soyang Europe.”
Summing up the company’s goals moving forward, Mashiter adds: “In the coming years, we’d like to see Soyang continuing to be pioneers within our market, bringing diverse new materials with added value to our customers for new applications.
“Our new, dynamic team now has the platform to take the business to another level, all with the support of our colleagues in China.”
