FESPA UK’s Next Gen Committee has announced a series of educational events for young professionals, set to take place simultaneously across three locations

FESPA UK’s Next Generation Committee (Next Gen) has announced the launch of an exclusive series of educational events set to take place simultaneously across three locations: Scotland, the North of England, and the South of England.
The Next Gen events, which will run on April 23rd, will feature a keynote speaker presenting live from each location, with the presentation streamed to the other two venues. Each event will include interactive sessions from the host company as well as a range of networking opportunities for young people in print, signage, and graphics.
The series will kick off with Colin Sinclair McDermott, aka The Online Print Coach, who will lead an interactive seminar titled "The Top 10 Growth Mistakes Print Companies Make – and How to Avoid Them."
McDermott’s seminar is designed to provide insights and practical advice for both newcomers to the industry and those looking to advance their careers, providing actionable strategies to take back to their own companies.
Following the keynote presentation, attendees will be invited into the showrooms of the host companies in each region for sessions that will offer hands-on practical experience, which will be followed by a series of networking opportunities.
Suzi Ward, managing director of FESPA UK, says: "The Next Gen Committee has made remarkable progress over the past two years, thanks to the dedication of some incredible young professionals. It's been wonderful to work with them and witness their development.
“With mentors now established across all three regions, we are excited to support the committee as they launch this new series of events. I strongly encourage businesses to send their young employees to participate."

Micheala Christmas, apprentice print technician at GH Display and a new member of the Next Gen committee, adds: "This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for young professionals to network, gain skills, and showcase the diversity of our industry.
“As a new committee member, I can see the immense benefits this series offers to both young people and the businesses they work for. We encourage everyone to join us and get involved."
In February, FESPA UK announced the launch of its Next Gen Supported Learning project, the next stage of its Next Generation project for young professionals.
The trade association’s new initiative is designed to connect young people with career opportunities in the print, signage, and graphics industries.
The fully funded programme offers a six-week work placement at a relevant company, followed by a one-year internship. The initiative is designed to be flexible, combining two to three days per week of workplace experience with two days per week of college learning.
