Moss UK has proven that graphics are a girl’s best friend with an installation at the Arches London Bridge exhibition space.

Moss, a specialist in branding and environment graphics, brought a touch of glamour to the underground event space, installing a range of signage and graphics for the venue’s latest exhibition on Marilyn Monroe.

‘MARILYN – The Exhibition’, which premiered for the first time in the UK when it opened in October, is running until Spring 2025. It includes 250 artefacts, many belonging to Marilyn Monroe herself, telling the story of the American actress and model’s life.

Working with entertainment company Kilimanjaro Live, Moss began installation a month ahead of the opening in collaboration with Studioshaw, the designer of the exhibition, and design agency Mitre & Mondays.

Sustainability was a key consideration, with Moss using a wide range of sustainable materials on the project.

The installation utilised Honext board, a carbon-negative alternative for interior building materials. To ensure the best results with the fully-recycled material, which has a distinctive texture, a sampling process was undertaken before installation.

High-tack heat adhesive vinyl, tensioned fabric, and heritage boards were applied to the Honext board to enhance the display. Cut vinyls and large tension fabric graphics framed the displays and external windows, while a series of bollard covers were used to promote the show outside.

Moss were tasked with replacing the existing Elvis-themed branding from the previous 'Direct from Graceland: Elvis' exhibition

Adding to the glamour of the installation, a ‘walk of fame’ was created for visitors using an anti-slip laminate, while a large tension fabric graphic was used to welcome visitors as they enter the exhibition.

Scaffolding was employed for the installation of the panels across the venue, which had to be quickly moved to allow the individual displays to be put in place by the curators. Six installers worked in tandem to ensure timescales were met.

Speaking of the project, Rob Kershaw, business development manager at Moss UK, says: “Working with a range of materials and collaborating with partners across London’s newest exhibition, performance, and culture destination made this an unforgettable project.

“From our initial sampling and testing through to the complexities of the final installation, this has been an iconic project for us and we are delighted to have played our part.”

Liz Koravos, managing director at Arches London Bridge, adds: “The attention to detail Moss provides came across in every step.

“Their expertise was invaluable in transforming our amazing venue and providing our guests with a glimpse into the life of the one and only Marilyn Monroe.”
