The industry’s first dedicated signage awards in four years, The Sign Awards, has revealed its line-up of expert judges.

Made up of three experienced sign-makers, the panel has worked through over 100 award submissions and selected the 2023 winners ahead of next week’s ceremony.

The panel consists of Michelle Henry and Paul Walters from New Zealand along with Cameron Garrett from Australia.

The 12 chosen winners will be revealed at the sold-out inaugural gala dinner on March 22nd at Birmingham Town Hall. The event is sponsored by a number of suppliers and specialists in the industry including Zund UK, Tradeprint, SloanLED, and Smith Sign & Display.

Vicky Hudson, business change manager at William Smith Group (which Smith is a part of) says: “The Sign Awards has emerged as the leading event dedicated to celebrating the contributions made by sign and graphic companies.

“Sharing their passion for the industry, we believe it is important to provide recognition to people for all their hard work. To be able to come together as a collective in order to share experiences and celebrate is something we’re extremely excited about.”

The judging panel holds a variety of experience ranging from signwriting to teaching. Henry and Walters both entered the industry through a love for signwriting, while Garrett has used his 20 plus years’ experience to become a teacher of Certificate III in Signs and Graphics at TAFE Queensland, Australia.

When asked about being chosen as a judge Garrett comments: “It’s a huge honour to be asked to be a judge at an event that showcases the most talented and passionate sign-makers who have spent many years building their skills and businesses and brings recognition to those that truly deserve it. Judging these very worthy entries has been a highlight in my career.”
