As a month of cultural significance, Black History Month has been celebrated and highlighted by many companies and individuals this year.

Out-of-home (OOH) specialist Ocean Outdoor used screens in locations such as Glasgow, Birmingham, London, and Southampton to showcase the Team GB Black History campaign.

The campaign was created to celebrate Britain’s national athletes and the achievements they have made in several sporting tournaments such as The Olympics.

Artwork featured gold medal winners like Mo Farah and Tessa Sanderson, two examples of athletes who have gone on to break records and inspire others with their stories.

Farah recently gained huge admiration after opening up about his personal experience as a domestic servant brought to the UK illegally as a child.

The campaign from Ocean Outdoor and Team GB has aimed to reflect and discuss black history with the aim to learn and improve the way our society deals with equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Speaking about the campaign, Ocean says: “Here at Ocean we want to represent the communities in which our screens are located so we look each year to amplify awareness days or months like Black History Month on our screens.”

The digital screens showcasing the campaign also included scannable QR codes which would take viewers to the Team GB website where they could read more about the many trailblazers in the world of British athletics.

Ocean concludes: “Black History Month is a month of important cultural significance, and we’re glad we can do our bit to amplify this message.”
