Attention to detail

Diversification has been a key buzzword in the signage market for some time now, with the onus on sign-makers to look outside of their traditional remit and consider new markets to move into. This will allow them to secure additional streams of revenue and take on new work from exciting sectors.

Wide-format print is the obvious choice for expansion due to the similarities it has with the more traditional signage work, in that in both markets, appearance and attention to detail is everything.

The main advantage of moving into wide-format print is the vast array of work on offer. Be it posters, banners, interior décor, billboards or even vehicle wraps, wide-format print comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, opening up your business to a whole host of potential new customers across many markets.

The onus is on sign-makers to look outside of their traditional remit and consider new markets to move into

Moving into such an expansive market may seem a little daunting, so for those thinking of diversifying into wide-format, the ideal starting place would be the HP Latex Knowledge Centre. Here, you can access – for free – more detailed information about the different types of applications in wide-format print and the opportunities available to companies in this sector.

The HP Latex Knowledge Centre also offers information about HP and the many devices we have on offer to companies starting out in wide-format, as well as those already established in the market looking to grow their presence.

Gateway to growth

There are obvious business benefits to offering wide-format print: keeping your customers close by answering ‘yes’ to their requests, fulfilling more of their needs by suggesting new products they can purchase, and attracting new customers through the door, but it doesn’t end there. Such is the scope and capability of even Mimaki’s entry-level wide-format kit, there’s a good chance companies will have barely scratched the surface of its potential – meaning there are significant opportunities to be explored.

The productivity of the latest Mimaki technology is a key benefit, and with high print speeds and unattended printing ensured, turnaround times are correspondingly improved. For sign-makers already offering a small-format print service, it’s likely that many of their customers will have a wide-format requirement too. By investing in wide-format technology, such as a Mimaki’s UV or solvent printer/cutters, this potential demand for pull up banners, signage and decals can help sign-makers cross-sell and up-sell, ensuring they retain and grow business from their existing customer base.

Investing in and offering wide-format output can be a real gateway to growth for sign-makers

An additional benefit for smaller companies outsourcing wide-format print to a trade printer, rather than making the investment in the technology themselves is that by adding this new technology, they can help keep the entire workflow in-house, allowing them to retain control of the whole process, avoiding delays and increasing profitability.

So, from entering new markets to offering new products, producing output faster and controlling the process from start to finish; investing in and offering wide-format output can be a real gateway to growth for sign-makers looking to capitalise on these new opportunities.
