Eurobond provides the perfect cure

Supplier of adhesive solutions, Eurobond Adhesives, has outlined the efficiency of its ‘UV light’ curing adhesives for sign-making applications.

The curing adhesives offer an alternative to the traditional method of using solvent weld adhesives to bond two acrylic pieces together. “This can be messy, time consuming, and ultimately produces a poor quality end product,” the company explains, adding: “The trade-off for sign-makers is, it’s cheap to use.

“But if you’re looking at improving your product quality, increasing your product offerings and opening up new revenue streams, then you have to change your process.”

When compared to traditional methods that can sometimes leave visible ‘crazing’ or ‘white fracture lines’ along the glue line, UV light curing adhesives don’t damage or overstress acrylic. A concentrated, highly focused beam of UV or visible light turns the adhesive from an inert liquid to a solid state very quickly.

The ‘cure on demand’ nature of this method means plastic fabricators can have control over the quality and speed of production.

“Eurobond has an extensive range to suit all sign-making applications. In addition, we offer a range of UV light curing systems to suit all budgets as well as free demonstrations and free training to potential customers,” the company says, adding: “The resultant end product will improve production times, reduce waste, and result in a far superior quality product.”

The UV light curing adhesives can be used in a range of applications not exclusive to the sign industry including indoor acrylic signs, point-of-sale, awards, furniture, TV and film props, and disposable medical devices.
