Sovereign Signs completes major Currys project

Hull-based Sovereign Signs linked up with Soyang Europe to carry out a major rebrand project for leading electrical retailer Currys.

Earlier this year, Currys announced it was to bring its Currys PC World, Carphone Warehouse, Team Knowhow and Dixons businesses together under the single Currys brand, with the aim of launching the new identity in October.

This meant Currys would have to replace signage across its network of more than 450 shops across the UK to reflect the name change.

Sovereign Signs won a tender to carry out work in 18 of these stores and was tasked with producing a range sign and display applications.

The signage specialist used Soyang Terra 260 BW fabric banner for all signage inside Currys stores, coupled with Greenstrip 14mm silicone that was stitched onto the top edge of the Terra 260 BW.

Sovereign Signs also used Endutex Print PA for non-illuminated smaller frames that were installed either side of the logo boxes, as well as BackEx PVC backlit banner for the illuminated Currys logo boxes on the side of each building.

All printed material for the Currys’ stores in Bath, Didcot and Andover was produced on Sovereign Signs’ new Mimaki UJV55-320, while the company also worked with a number of partners to deliver graphics to other stores allocated to Sovereign Signs.

“We needed advice on what materials were being used on the Currys contract as we had previously been using an external supplier and wanted to undertake some of this project ourselves, in-house,” says Steve Hancock, operations manager at Sovereign Signs.
