Antalis films to help in Covid-19 fightback

Antalis UK has announce that its Coala Coversafe transparent antimicrobial film has been proven effective against SARS-CoV 2, the virus responsible for novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

The Department of Virology at the University of Limoges in France carried out tests on the film, comparing surfaces of Coala Coversafe adhesive films, activated by Pylote, with similar surfaces without the technology present.

Results from the test showed contact of the Coala film Coversafe with the BASA strain of the human coronavirus SARS-CoV 2 induced a 1.42 log decrease in viral load after a contact time of one hour, which represented an efficiency of 96% lasting 10 days.

“In the context of this ongoing health crisis, we are delighted with the success of the results of these tests which demonstrate the effectiveness of Coala Coversafe against the strains responsible for Covid-19 and other microbes,” Antalis product manager Mike Collins says.

The performance of Coala Coversafe has proven successful in the real conditions of a school, where surfaces such as doors and tables equipped with the film had between two and four times less the amount of bacteria than other surfaces.

“This innovation allows us to offer our customers, and their clients, a solution that allows them to continue their activities with improved protection,” Collins adds.
