The rating means Epson meets the highest standards for human rights, labour conditions, environment, ethics and sustainable procurement, placing it in the top 1% of companies in its industry.

Other key points in the ‘Green Choice’ sustainability report include that the Epson EMEA operation was able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per employee reduced by 8.56% in 2020, while it recycled 23,700 tonnes of material.

Epson says it is now using 100% renewable energy in all its owned buildings, while it was also able to save a potential 1.1m tonnes of plastic-based consumables through the sale of over 50m cartridge-free EcoTank printers.

In addition, Epson engaged with over 11,000 students of all ages as part of its ‘New Horizons’ programme, though which it introduces young people to sustainable technology and inspires them to achieve their career goals.

Epson hails ‘significant’ green progress

Digital print heavyweight Epson says that it has made “significant” progress on environmental goals in 2020, revealing in a new report it achieved an ‘EcoVadis Platinum’ rating for sustainability.
