Hyde Park gets festive makeover

Leek Signs has given London’s Hyde Park Winter Wonderland a festive decoration through the production of bespoke flat board and 3D displays.

It is the third year the firm has completed this installation and it did so this year using a new Roland VG-640 press and Nazdar inks, provided by Quality Print Services (QPS).

Since its launch 20 years ago, the Staffordshire-based company has grown from a vinyl-cut lettering sign-maker, to digital printing. With this new offering, Leek Signs now also provides signage and digital print products for the theme park and public events sector.

As one of the capital’s eight Royal Parks, Hyde Park is visited by millions of people each year.

The Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is a popular attraction during the winter months and features the world’s tallest Observation Wheel, a Magical Ice Kingdom, a Winter Wonderland Comedy Club, and the UK’s largest open-air ice rink.

...it was the right time to upgrade. We are really impressed with the new TrueVIS VG-640. The quality of print is superb and the colours are nice and vibrant

To bring the high-profile venue to life, the firm used the Roland wide-format inkjet printer/cutter with a seven-colour ink configuration, replacing its previous Roland SOLJET Pro III XC-540 printer/cutter.

Discussing the upgrade, Mat Burrows, director of Leek Signs says: “It was still a good machine but Chris Bailey at QPS proposed a great offer for an ex-demo TrueVIS VG-640 with Nazdar inks so it was the right time to upgrade.

“We are really impressed with the new TrueVIS VG-640. The quality of print is superb and the colours are nice and vibrant.”

The Nazdar 204 Series digital imaging inks have been developed for use in RolandVIS SG and VG series systems and Leek Signs has been using these on its Roland equipment for many years.
