The Didcot-based firm needed to source materials that could withstand the pressure of other books piled on top of each other. In creating a sample book for the client, Digipress realised the spine of the book was not rigid enough to hold the curved shape.
Following some consultation, the design team sourced three materials which, combined, provided the solution. A stress test later, and the design was able to withstand the weight.
As the books were being displayed in a window, they needed to be eye-catching and bright. To achieve this, Digipress used a SwissQ Nyala machine.

Reflecting on the project, Digipress says: “The client was delighted with the end-result. The window display looked fantastic and attracted the attention of the public tremendously. “The giant books were able to be displayed in a number of ways over the course of time that they were in the window display. To top the success off, as the books were hollow and so sturdy, the client would be able to use them as storage, or stand-alone shelving for the store. Recycling at its best.”
