Graphics4 Business gets a lucky break

Droitwich-based Graphics4 Business has paid tribute to the impact that a DYSS X5-1630 digital cutting table from AG/CAD has had on the company.

The purchase came about when director Ian Hatfield broke his ankle and was forced to work from home.

During his time away from the firm’s site, Hatfield took time to evaluate the business and concluded that the DYSS machine would help solve a bottleneck issue at the final process of hand cutting.

The DYSS X5-1630 has been operating alongside an Océ Arizona since September of last year, and Hatfield has nothing to praise for the 3x1.6m machine.

Now, the DYSS churns through the creasing, marking and cutting and the printers are now the bottleneck—they can't keep up with the DYSS, a complete role reversa

“We had one member of staff hand cutting on a full-time basis and still struggling to keep pace with the printers,” Hatfield says.

He adds: “Now, the DYSS churns through the creasing, marking and cutting and the printers are now the bottleneck—they can't keep up with the DYSS, a complete role reversal.

“Now, our employee can set the DYSS going and then get on with other tasks. The DYSS is like instantly having an extra employee.”
