DYSS users cut out the chaff

Large-format print finishing technology specialist AG/CAD has seen a buoyant start to 2016 with a spate of high profile technology sales that have made a significant impact on its customers.

Bolton-based Impression has revealed that it has delivered year-on-year growth in excess of 20 percent and driven its success through a serious of key capital investments.

The company, which is now in its seventh year, has maintained such growth by investing heavily in the latest equipment. With Roland solvent wide-format roll fed devices and a small-format digital press from Konica Minolta, it was the installation of an Océ Arizona flatbed digital printer and an AG/CAD KM627R digital cutting machine that reportedly catapulted the company forward. Following this, a DYSS X7-1624C Superhead Digital Cutter, will reportedly allow Impression to thrive in seasonal peaks.

“The new X7 is at least 40 percent faster than the previous machine on roll media and flat sheets,” says director, Carl Webster.

key investment into AG/CAD’s technology has come from DST, one of the largest point-of-sale display and packaging producers in the UK. With 1,400 staff spread across eight locations, it continually invests in new technology to ensure the removal of production bottlenecks and so plumped for a DYSS X5 digital cutter to bolster the design department of its Nottingham facility.

“With a design department that creates over 10,000 design samples every year, reliability was a critical factor,” says product development manager, Steve Hutchinson, who adds: "By producing varnish blankets on the DYSS X5 in just a few minutes, we are saving press time of approximately 30 minutes on simple jobs, and more on complex ones."
