The Canon Customer Experience Centre was decorated to celebrate the 2022 Games

Business locations such as Canon’s Birmingham Customer Experience Centre were decorated with Commonwealth 2022 branding to help celebrate its role as the official imagining support of the Games.

The centre was decorated with Perry the Bull mascots, athletic themed floor and wall graphics, as well as vinyl wraps on printers like the Canon imagePRESS C910.

Throughout the Games site, Birmingham city, and Canon locations various forms of signage and digital screens welcomed visitors attending for the Commonwealth Games.

Digital screens and roller banners adorned the likes of hotels and businesses throughout Birmingham as the city welcomed travellers from all over the world who came to support and watch the regional athletes.

With Canon acting as the official imaging supporter of the Games, Canon printers and technology were used “in offices, fields, and next to racecourses” throughout the event.

Speaking on Canon’s website about installing the 600 printers needed, Steve Cliffe, Canon UK’s managed print services architect for the project, discussed the mammoth task. “Effectively, we had three to five days to implement a thirty-location service and stand it all up from a technology integration point of view.

“This comes on top of working within the confines and controls of vehicular access, people access and permits because we operate alongside all the other suppliers that are going to be a part of the Games.”

CSM Live, who provided the graphics, worked with the likes of Hollywood Monster and GESS to create the event signage

Canon’s Birmingham showroom includes kit such as the ColourWave, Arizona, and Colorado which are all capable of printing on a variety of substrates with next generation print technology that complements Canon’s Zünd series of flatbed cutters.

CSM Live the official look, wayfinding and signage provider for the games provided the revamp of Canon’s Experience Centre on top of the various banners, stadium graphics, and city dressing that filled the city.

Canon’s interactive photo booths also featured in the Games and the Experience Centre. The booths allowed fans to enjoy the free ‘Make a Move’ interactive game where players had to copy a series of sporting poses on screen.
