Harry Bairstow has launched 3D print company, Fetera, and is expecting to achieve a turnover of more than £100,000 in his first full year in business.

From its base in Keighley, Fetera produces high quality filament in a range of colours for the 3D printing markets.

The idea for the company came from Bairstow’s own interest in 3D printing when he found it difficult to source high quality filament for printing. He also found that the majority was imported from China and the Netherlands.

Having worked in the plastics industry, Bairstow invested in new machinery including a dual axis laser micrometre gauge and set up Fetera. The polylactic acid (PLA) filament is also 100% compostable as it is made using sugar cane.

He explains: “Increased investment in research and development is encouraging innovation and driving demand among the 3D printing community.

“We have spent two years perfecting our material and quality is our focus. Our filament is competitively priced to ensure clog-free printing every time and is manufactured here in the UK, so customers are assured of a speedy delivery.”

A member of Made in Britain, Fetera’s supply chains and collaborations are made up of British manufacturers which Bairstow says enables sustainability throughout the company’s production operations.

He adds: “Fetera means innovation and creativity in the Ethiopian language which sums up perfectly what we have achieved so far and our ambitions for the future of the business.”
