Roland DG has launched a new UV flatbed printer in response to varied lifestyles and preferences

The VersaUV LEF2-300 is the latest model in the firm’s range of LEF2 series benchtop UV printers and delivers the same quality as the recently launched LEF2-200; but provides 1.5 times the print area and speed for the volume production of products on demand.

The new machine is able to print onto “virtually any” surface including a range of ‘off-the-shelf’ products, making it ideal for promotional print companies, retailers, sign shops, commercial printers and product manufacturers alike.

Low-heat UV-LED lamps allow ink to be instantly cured onto the media surface, meaning graphics and fine text can be printed onto both hard and soft materials such as PVC and plastics, to leather and fabric.

Clear ink can be applied in multiple layers, providing both premium gloss and matt finishes. The LEF2-300 comprises a 770mm W x 330mm D x 100mm H print area, four printheads, and two UV lamps.

As everyone’s lifestyles and preferences become increasingly varied, the demand for making one-of-a-kind items or high-mix, small-batch runs continues to grow

Describing the new printer’s advanced features, Kohei Tanabe, president of Roland DG’s Digital Printing Business Division says: “A multiple print function for printing the same data again by simply pressing a button on the control panel and a Printer Status Monitor for checking the operating status of multiple printers in real-time promote efficient performance when printing large volumes.

“As everyone’s lifestyles and preferences become increasingly varied, the demand for making one-of-a-kind items or high-mix, small-batch runs continues to grow. The LEF2 series is designed to meet such demand as it is capable of on-demand printing quickly onto a diverse range of materials.”

In terms of how the new product will benefit the industry, Tanabe adds: “The addition of the LEF2-300 to the series line-up gives even more customers the ability to print amazing graphics and lifelike textures. We aim to develop more products that encourage customer creativity in order to boost business growth.”
