isGroup Signs project blooms at Tower of London

Flint-based signage provider, isGroup Signs, recently produced wayfinding signage for a special Superbloom Platinum Jubilee event being held for four months at The Tower of London.

The wayfinding signage can be placed on a variety of uneven surfaces thanks to adjustable feet

Launched to celebrate HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign, over 20 million seeds have been sown at The Tower of London’s moat. The idea is that from June to September, the display will evolve across the summer months.

Once inside the moat, visitors can choose to climb stairs or slide down the moat on a four lane Superbloom slide.

Following a successful tender, isGroup Signs utilised its 40 years of experience to produce freestanding signage that could be placed on a variety of uneven surfaces in and around the venue. “More challenging than it sounds!” comments Chris Johnson, marketing executive of the company.

Rising to the challenge, the company developed a completely new signage solution in order to meet the client’s brief.

“We produced structural calculations, CAD and 3D designs, and built two prototypes for the client,” Johnson explains.

The signage produced by isGroup Signs came in two designs: one with planters and one without

The full job included a freestanding, slimline, portable wayfinding signage system which consisted of two self-weighted sign types, one featuring a planter, and one without. This included an aluminium frame which was powder coated to the client’s choice of colours to protect the signs come rain or shine.

Lockable snap frames were produced to house aluminium graphic panels and adjustable feet meant the signage could be levelled on uneven surfaces. Castor wheels were then added to enable the signs to be transported easily.

Following on from the project, the new sign product will be introduced to isGroup Signs’ Way2Go signage portfolio and will be available for purchase on the company’s online store.
