A wild ride for MacroArt

Paulton Park’s latest ride offering, Tornado Springs, caused a storm as it opened earlier this month, coupled with all new signage from MacroArt.

MacroArt used a wooden substrate to create the Tornado Springs signage

To fit with the Tornado Springs theme, ethically sourced wood materials were used to create the signage to withstand the rigours of the theme park. Because of the substrate used, testing had to be undertaken to make sure the signage still had enough visibility, durability and longevity.

MacroArt first printed a white layer to make the text as visible as possible and a four-colour layer without white, so that the natural wooden texture could show through. The back of each sign was also printed to maintain brand image and the panels were cut out using one of MacroArt’s three CNC cutters, then finished with two layers of clear UV lacquer.

It was a real advantage to be able to leave these signage elements in Mike’s capable hands and our relationship built over the years reassured us

Mike Hamling, key account manager for MacroArt, comments: “Working with our materials suppliers, our design and production team devised a solution using a combination of our direct-to-media printers and the latest wooden materials to ensure we complemented the 1950s style and tone of the new Tornado Springs experience.”

Rob Griffiths, head of marketing communications for Paultons Park, adds: “It was a real advantage to be able to leave these signage elements in Mike’s capable hands and our relationship built over the years reassured us that MacroArt would continue to produce high quality and reliable signage that would really complement our incredible new land.”

The new ride opened in mid-April when restrictions were eased

Hamling concludes: “Our longstanding customers are key to MacroArt and by ensuring we are able to provide printed graphics and signage across a wide variety of project sizes, we make sure that we can deliver the results they need.

“This job was the perfect example of our ability to deliver tailor-made signage solutions of any size for our clients and I am delighted that they provide the impact and sustainability that Paultons Park demanded for their brand-new experience.”
