Sharp gets educational with South Essex College

Sharp UK has announced details of a recent project, whereby it helped create a ‘one-of-a-kind’ facility for South Essex College in Basildon.

The facility features print devices, device management software, BIG PAD interactive touchscreens and digital signage

The new ‘Centre for Digital Technologies’ provides students and staff with access to an integrated suite of the latest digital printing and audio visual presentation learning technologies.

The centre is equipped with the multifunction and production print devices, as well as device management software, BIG PAD interactive touchscreens, digital signage and learning space furniture.

Sharp’s partnership with the college extends beyond providing this technology, with students to be supported by Sharp through apprenticeships, mentoring, work experience and four guest speaker talks at the college.

The partnership is planned to expand in the future as the college develops its on-premise ‘Technology Suite’, providing students with access to products and new technologies being launched in the UK by Sharp.

We’re very happy to be partnering with Sharp on this project so students can benefit from this industry-led educational experience

Angela O’Donoghue, principal and chief executive at South Essex College, adds: “The college’s new Centre for Digital Technologies in Basildon town centre, Essex is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for students on courses with a tech focus including IT networking, app development, games design and animation.

“We’re very happy to be partnering with Sharp on this project so students can benefit from this industry-led educational experience.”

Simon Warnes, director of connect partnerships at Sharp UK, adds: “This has been an exciting project for the whole Sharp team. Given the year everyone has had, we wanted to ensure the value we are adding at South Essex College goes beyond the technology and facilities we’ve installed.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with the college long term and to be able to lend our continued support, expertise and guidance to both students and staff.”
