Picture perfect with Picanova

Gvido Grube, content manager and photo printing professional at UK-focused My-Picture.co.uk, speaks to Rob Fletcher about how the company has held its own during the coronavirus crisis and continued to deliver work to customers.

The novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has caused huge disruption to the UK print market, with many companies having been forced to temporarily close their doors and pause operations.

However, for some businesses, they have remained open during the crisis and continued to produce quality printed work for customers. One such company is the Picanova Group, best known in the UK for its My-Picture.co.uk online print shop.

Though the company has faced some challenges in recent months, Gvido Grube, content manager and photo printing professional at My-Picture.co.uk, says that there has been a high level of orders, with the firm even seeing demand increase for certain types of work.

“It’s safe to say that our most popular product is still photo canvas prints,” he says, adding: “Our flagship line since day one, My-Picture canvas prints have delighted thousands upon thousands of customers so far. And the recent global health crisis hasn’t dented their popularity. Indeed we’ve seen an unprecedented surge in orders.

“This can partly be explained perhaps by people simply having a lot more time at their disposal. Also, our customers have been kept apart from their close friends and family, so we’ve seen a lot of interest in what you could call “thinking of you” gifts.

“Buyers can have their gift orders sent directly to their loved ones, and people have found that canvas prints are a great way to express their love and support – and remind each other of good times spent together.”

Aside from its core canvas print business, Picanova and My-Picture have seen a rise in demand for their personalised face masks, with more people now wearing these when out of the house to protect themselves and others against the virus.

“By giving our customers the chance to personalise their face mask with photos and designs of their choice, we hoped to spread some positivity in these hard times,” Grube comments, adding: “The great response we received makes us believe that the attempt was successful.”

Grube goes on to say that he expects this level of demand to continue for some time – at least until public safety measures are lifted– and by that time, Picanova and My-Picture will have grown their presence in the UK market.

“Once the crisis is over, people may want to get out and enjoy their newfound freedom and spend less time shopping online,” he says, adding: “But we're also confident that the evergreen nature of our products makes them less prone to changing market trends. We believe that our prints offer fantastic quality at such affordable prices – and that won’t change.”


B2B opportunities


While Picanova and My-Picture have established a strong presence within the UK B2C print market, the business is also in a position to support other companies with their services via its B2B offering.

My-Picture offers a B2B discount on all orders within this segment, with Grube saying that clients are able to order unbranded products. Other benefits that are available as part of the B2B service include exclusive merchant offers for bulk orders, tax-free intra-community deliveries and priority ordering on demand.

“When ordering customer should be logged into their B2B account and fill the field ‘company’ to receive our products without our logo on them,” Grube says, adding: “My-Picture is our biggest UK shop and one of the most respected custom print outlets in the country.
