British Sign Awards call for 2019 entries

Now in its seventh year, the British Sign Awards aims to highlight the best of British sign-making with a number of accolades covering each aspect of the industry.

Organised by ISA-UK, formerly the BSGA, the awards will be presented across 12 categories, from traditional crafts through to large scale architectural signs and wide-format graphics.

Entry is open to all UK-based sign businesses and free to all those who enter. A panel of industry experts, independent of ISA-UK, will be judging each entry.

“The award categories reflect the diversity and creativity of British sign-makers and their ability to combine traditional skills with engineering know-how and hi-tech materials and machinery,” says David Catanach, director of ISA-UK.

“Winning one of the awards should give any business a major boost, both with customers and with staff, and we would encourage all UK sign businesses that have produced work of which they are genuinely proud to enter,” adds Catanach. “If you’re not in it, you can’t win it.”

There is a new prize for the company that wins in the Sign of the Year accolade thanks to the new affiliation with the International Sign Association (ISA) in America, as a representative from the winning company will have flights and accommodation paid for on a trip to the Sign Expo in Florida in 2020, courtesy of ISA.

Actor and comedian Shaun Williamson, best known for his roles in EastEnders and Extras, will be hosting the awards ceremony at the Athena Centre in Leicester on November 14th.

Each award is sponsored by a different company with Signfab UK, Make it Happen and FirstLite LED as corporate sponsors of the awards.

“We believe that the sponsorship package delivers a real return on investment, but the fact is that without the sponsors the awards could not go ahead, and we would like to thank them for their commitment to the industry and support for ISA-UK,” adds Catanach.

“We still have a couple of categories available for sponsorship if any businesses out there would like to be involved.”

The closing date for entries is Friday, September 13th with further details of entry criteria and entry forms available through the awards website.
