Putting pedal to metal with a green twist

Family-run Greens the Signmakers tapped into its own history with rallying to provide signage and stickers for a closed-road rally in Yorkshire with a green twist.

Greens produced over 1,600 individual printed items using its HP R2000 flatbed printer

Managing director Lawrence Green and Chairman Chris Green have rallied Lotus Cortinas and Ford Mk1s respectively in the UK and abroad and as such had plenty of knowledge to complete the job.

Run by Richard Vincent, sales director of Brownings in Hull, the event which was the first of its kind in Yorkshire, took place in February.

The rally required over 30 individual pieces of artwork totalling over 1,600 individual printed items.

Greens had recently purchased a new HP R2000 flatbed printer which, due to it using water-based Latex inks, allows the company to produce fully recyclable products.

The signage was printed onto 4mm Correx and comprised of arrival, start, and finish boards as well as stage arrows and chicane boards.

Greens produced over 400 individual stickers with dedicated bins places around the site to ensure the backing paper was disposed of correctly

In addition to the ‘rally Stage Furniture’, Greens also provided event headers and sponsors names which were printed onto self adhesive vinyl for each of the front doors of the rally cars.

With Brownings a local supplier of Metamark self-adhesive vinyls, Vincent turned to Andy Clay of Metamark in search of a recyclable self-adhesive product that could be used for these applications. Clay suggested MD3-A Metascape Digital Vinyl.

In total, Greens produced over 400 individual stickers with dedicated bins places around the site to ensure the backing paper was disposed of correctly.

“Lawrence Green is keen to reduce the amount of product that Greens the Signmakers sends to landfill and it certainly looks like they have the right equipment and the attitude to carry it off,” says Greens.

Vincent has extended his thanks to Greens for its support of the event which was won by David Henderson and Chris Lees in a Ford Fiesta R5.
