The OAAA encourages the industry to celebrate World Wildlife Day 2020 using their OOH platforms

Seven years ago, on December 20th 2013, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) decided that March 3rd – the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in 1973 – was to be UN World Wildlife Day.

According to research by the Arbitron National In-Car Study, 71% of Americans consciously look at billboard messages while driving. Research from Airoutdoor also found that bus shelter adverts reach 92% of the population each week.

Showcase Outdoor found that with 53% more cars on the road today than 30 years ago, more consumers than ever before are seeing OOH advertising.

The idea behind the day is to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants and statistics such as these show that OOH an effective platform to promote a cause such as World Wildlife Day.

On World Wildlife Day 2020, we will celebrate the special place of wild plants and animals in their many varied and beautiful forms as a component of the world’s biological diversity

Passionate about the cause itself, the OAAA has used its website to make the imagery available to anyone and everyone who wishes to share the message.

The theme for this year’s World Wildlife Day is “Sustaining all life on Earth”, which encompasses all wild animal and plant species together as core components of the world’s biodiversity.

The OAAA comments: “On World Wildlife Day 2020, we will celebrate the special place of wild plants and animals in their many varied and beautiful forms as a component of the world’s biological diversity.

“We will work to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits of wildlife to people, particularly to those communities who live in closest proximity to it, and we will discuss the threats they are facing and the urgent need for governments, civil society, private sector actors and individuals to add their voices and take actions to help conserve wildlife and ensure its continued use is sustainable.”

Signage providers can access imagery and graphics to broadcast onto OOH screens through the OAAA website.
